Steve Philpott

Steve started out playing the guitar, but became interested in old-time music over 30 years ago when a friend learned to play the banjo and asked Steve to accompany him. Becoming bored after a few years of providing accompaniment, Steve began to learn to play fiddle tunes on the guitar. For several years he played guitar with a country band, Fire Prairie Creek, named after a creek in Buckner, Missouri. Desiring to learn something new and feeling like there were too many guitarists, Steve bought a dobro and learned how to play it. The dobro is now his main instrument.
